This is more than a little convicting. Proverbs 6:16-18:
16 There are six things that the Lord hates,
dseven that are an abomination to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
19 a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who sows discord among brothers.
Do you see yourself in that list? I know I’m there. I lose at number 1.
In fact, the only one I can’t claim is the “hands that shed innocent blood.” All the rest I have done or still struggle with. And this passage says that God hates these things. Where does that leave me?
Lost and without hope, save for the blood of Christ.
At the cross, all these things and more were condemned in the flesh of Jesus Christ and I am left without condemnation, and free from that very sin that God hates (Romans 8:1-3). At the cross, Jesus reconciles us to God and grants us everlasting peace in Him. God hates sin, but He loves us and showed us that love in Jesus. So let go of your sins and take hold of Christ, he turns us from objects of God’s hatred to children of God’s hand.
